Young Hallyu frontrunner Jang Keun Suk is in the headlines again. After showcasing retro and modern fashion styles in “High Cut Korea,” the actor is now attracting attention for his various advertising campaigns he did in Japan.

Social networking and video sharing sites have picked up on Jang Keun Suk’s different commercials (CFs) for a variety of products in Japan. Jang Keun Suk appeared in CFs for chocolate, rice wine and other food products. He has likewise appeared in advertisements for fashion. The number and variety of products he endorses showcases his strong popularity in the country.

Netizens have also caught on to the different images the actor portrays in each of his CFs. He looks naughty and friendly in some, while he sports smoky eye make-up and chews gum in others.

Jang Keun Suk holds top celebrity status in Japan. His upcoming drama, “Love Rain,” co-starring SNSD’sYoonA has secured broadcast rights in Japan, reportedly for a record sum of 9 billion won (around $7.8 million USD.) In October of 2011, he held a three-city, sold-out Arena Tour, which earned him his “Asia Prince” nickname.

Actor, Jang Keun Suk completed his first short film. JKS, who is now a senior at the department of Acting, Hanyang University, submitted a short film as his graduation work to meet academic requirements for graduation. Tree-J staff revealed that he had submitted it in spite of a tight schedule. At the previous interview with us, JKS said, “My graduation work was 4:30 minutes long and I acted in a one-man show. Besides, I wrote the script and directed the film.” And he added that it was a kind of sarcastic film. He also revealed that he someday wants to direct films as well as acting and singing.”

JKS has recently been paid attention because he donated 1,200 million won to Hanyang University hoping to settle the scholarship. The “Jang Keun Suk” scholarship starts from March 2012 and can sponsor 20 students at the department of Acting who have excellent results and come from financially disadvantaged background.

Jang Keun Suk appears for the pictorial for the 2012 first issue of High Cut playing a double role of guys in the 1970s and 2012 respectively, suggestive of the characters he is currently playing in the most anticipated upcoming drama series Love Rain.

For the pictorial, Jang wore brown-tone classic outfits of COMME des GARCONS, Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester. While shooting, Japanese female fans kept their presence at one corner of the set, lost in admiration of his attractive air and figure.

In an interview, Jang confided, “When my mother went see a fortuneteller, he said, as I heard, my 2012 would be another busiest year in my life. My mom encouraged me to reestablish my determination for 2012. I sometimes feel a little burdened by such pressure to maintain popularity both in Korea and Japan.”

“I have gained more than expected, so it is true that I have to be careful in behaving and talking, having so much in my head. I want people to give affectionate support to me without color and my growth in coming years,” he added.

Verbal Jint narrated JKS documentary and proved their friendship again.

According to Brand New Music, Verbal Jint was the narrator of KBS2 documentary “The central role of new Hallyu stars, Jang Keun Suk” and it proved their friendship. Their friendship has developed since JKS revealed that he became a fan of Verbal Jint after listening to his 4th album “go easy” in 2011.

JKS invited him as a guest at his Tokyo Dome performance in November and then JKS made a guest appearance on stage of Verbal Jint in December. In this way they have built intimacy. In the documentary Verbal Jint utilized his unique and attractive voice in narration. It became another present for whom knew their friendship. In spite of long periods of recording, Verbal Jint enjoyed himself and said, “I admire him again as I felt when I was at Tokyo Dome. I’m happy to join this documentary which shows real JKS and his success.”

Jang Keun Suk expressed his feeling on all the talk that thanks to the enormous hit of a single drama series, he was turned into an overnight sensation.

In KBS’s special television documentary, entitled ‘New Korean Wave’s Central Figure, Jang Keun Suk,’ which aired on January 1, Jang began to talk: “People usually say that I suddenly emerged as a star in Japan, but it took almost 20 years for me to star in the drama series.”

Since You’re Beautiful took a terrific success, he actually gained a huge fame in Japan. However, he is an “experienced” actor who has walked himself up through the steps in a calm and orderly fashion by appearing in more than 20 drama series and films.

“I debuted at the age of 5 as a commercial child model. Despite my early age, I have to act like a responsible adult model at the set in order not to get scolded. Because of the early debut, I have few childhood memories.”

The documentary highlighted Jang’s concert tour held in Japan, in which Jang gave viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the concert and the Twitter-shutdown event.

On December 31st, a small preview of the upcoming drama ‘Love Rain‘ starring Jang Geun Suk andGirls’ Generation member YoonA aired during the ’2011 KBS Drama Awards’.

Jang Geun Suk plays the dual role of a handsome ’70s art student named ‘Seo In Ha’, and his son in the year 2012, a free-spirited photographer named ‘Seo Jun’. YoonA, on the other hand, also has a dual role playing the innocent ’70s campus goddess ‘Kim Yoon Hee’, as well as her daughter in 2012, ‘Hana’. Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee fall in love in college in the 1970s but unfortunately their love was fated to never be. Their children, Seo Jun and Hana meet by fate and they also fall in love. Will history repeat itself or will Seo Jun and Hana go down a different path?

The drama was exported for $9 million USD to Japan and is scheduled to air through KBS2 some time in 2012.
