The actor/singer recently held a special fan meeting, ‘2012 Lotte Duty-Free Shops Jang Geun Suk In Star Avenue‘ at the Dom Art Hall in Children’s Grand Park on January 28th. An impressive 1,400 Japanese fans showed up for the event, proving the star’s international fame.

The meet and greet was nothing short of a concert. Jang Geun Suk sang “Hello Hello“, the soundtrack to his drama, ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night‘, as well as his Japanese debut single “Oh My Darling“, and his yet to be released upcoming single, which earned the warm applause of the audience.

He also planned a few special events for the fans, and gifted one of the winners with a T-shirt and jacket he personally wore during one of his advertisement shoots. The star also selected two members of the audience to come on stage and take pictures with him, and revealed photos of himself which were taken during his day to day activities & his World Tour.

This venue in particular held fan meet and greets in rapid succession, as JYJ held one at the location on the 14th, followed by Kim Hyun Joong who held a meet and greet on the 21st. Boy group Big Bangalso held one at the same location right after Jang Geun Suk, which caused quite the stir amongst their fans.

On January 20, Jang tweeted a picture with the comment “It’s finally in my hands. What would Jang Keun Suk taste like? He may taste like bulgogi, so to speak.”

Jang, who is staying in Japan these days, took a picture of bread that has his face on it in a hotel. He inspires laughter by comparing the taste of the bread to the taste of “Jang Keun Suk.”

Jang Keun Suk and Kim Ha Neul’s romantic comedy movie You’re My Pet ranked sixth in Japan after the first week of the movie’s release.

On January 24, a Japanese media outlet said that the movie ranked  No. 6 in the Japanese box office after it’s first week in theatres.

The movie is about a girl named Ji Eun (played by Kim Ha Neul), who is beautiful and talented but not lucky in love, and Kang In Ho (played by Jang Keun Suk), who becomes her pet and their transition from friends to lovers.

Jang Dong Gun and Odagiri Joe’s war blockbuster movie My Way fell six steps from it’s initial release and is currently ranked ninth.

The Japanese movie Always Sanchome no Yuhi’64 ranked first and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Space Sheriff Gavan ranked second. The movies were followed by Robo-G, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and Magic Tree House.

On January 18, actors Jang Keun Suk and Kim Ha Neul, who are co-starring in the movie "You're My Pet," were seen at the Kimpo Airport leaving for Japan.

Jang Keun Suk was seen in quite the fashionable outfit. His all black outfit was interrupted by a unique leopard print shirt that had a pair of juicy red lips on the front. The shiny leather bookbag, which is another fashionista item, along with his cool black shades, completed his rocker style.


Actress Kim Ha Neul looked very feminine in her airport attire, wearing a beige mustang jacket and a white T-shirt paired with a pair of pretty-blue skinny jeans. Instead of sunglasses, Ha Neul opted for a beanie hat to complete her look, and used a black embossed bag to add some chicness. The "kill heels" she's wearing attract attention too, not just for their mere size but also for the unique leopard print pattern. Her makeup was kept to a bare minimum, radiating her natural beauty. 


The two stars looked well and excited at the airport. They smiled for the flashing cameras and waved at the fans on the sideline. Jang Geun Suk especially gave excellent service to his fans, holding their hands in greeting and taking off his sunglasses to look them in the eyes. He showed off his pretty boy charm and made his fans very happy.

On January 18, Japan's Oricon reported that the "Prince of Asia" Jang Keun Suk is set to release a new album in Japan as part of a unit group, "Team H." Oricon introduced the new unit group's album and future plans with the title, "Jang Keun Suk's unit 'Team H' comes to Japan," on its website. 

The name comes from Jang Keun Suk's school, Han Yang University, as he took the letter "H" from the school's name. Team H is a two-member group with Jang Keun Suk and DJ Big Brother. DJ Big Brother has previously worked with Jang Keun Suk on his first Japanese mini-album.

According to Oricon, Team H will release its first mini-album "Lounge H" on March 21. The album will contain seven songs of rock and electronic genre, including "Gotta Getcha," which has been previously introduced at Jang Keun Suk's Tokyo Dome Tour Concert last year. 

The album will be of its original style with brand new jacket photos and packaging and can only be found in Japan. This is to distinguish the album from "Lounge H Vol.1," a previously released album of the unit group in Taiwan.

Last year, Jang Keun Suk had signed with Lawson Frau International and Tree-J Company to become Lawson’s product ambassador. As a result, his face is on two types of bread produced by Lawsons.

Lawsons began selling “Jang Keun Suk Mocha Coffee Melon Bread” and “Jang Keun Suk Bulgogi Bread” in Lawsons’ convenience stores throughout Japan today, January 17.

A representative of Lawsons stated, “Jang Keun Suk is extremely popular among Japanese females, and we chose him to endorse our product because female consumers are our target market. “  

Jang Keun Suk has charmed hallyu fans, especially those in Japan, with his memorable characters in dramas like “You’re Beautiful” and “Mary Stayed Out All Night,” as well as his singing prowess.  Last year, Japanese magazine “AERA” published an article analyzing Jang Keun Suk’s popularity, stating that his popularity surpasses that of original hallyu star Bae Yong Joon of “Winter Sonata.”

Upcoming drama “Love Rain” has received a lot of attention both at home and overseas for its stellar lineup, famous director, and popular screen writer. “Love Rain” stars hallyu star Jang Keun Suk and SNSD’s YoonA as its main leads and also includes “Super Star K’s” Seo In Gook, “Rival's” Kim Si Hoo, “Spy Myung Wol’s” Son Eun Seo, and “Smile Mom’s” Hwang Bo Ra.

Producers of the series announced that there is a strong possibility that “Love Rain” will air onKBS once “Dream High 2” ends in March. The cast and crew have already completed filming the 1970s scenes, and shooting the present day scenes will resume in late February/early March in Japan. Jang Keun Suk, YoonA, Kim Si Hoo, and other central characters will officially kick off filming the 2012 scenes in Hokaido, Japan, where they will film their characters’ first encounter with each other.

“Love Rain” is a melo-love story set in two different periods – the 1970s and 2012. Jang Geun Suk and YoonA play Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, two college students who fall in love with each other in the 1970s; unfortunately, these two do not get their happily ever after. Fast forward to the present, Seo Joon, In Ha’s son (also played by Jang Keun Suk) meets and falls in love with Ha Na, Yoon Hee’s daughter (also played by YoonA). Jang Keun Suk’s 1970s Seo In Ha is a romantic arts student who is willing to lay down his life for the love of his life. His son Seo Joon, on the other hand, is a carefree photographer who enjoys a freewheeling lifestyle. YoonA’s 1970s Kim Yoon Hee is a pure, elegant “campus goddess,” while her daughter Ha Na is a bright and lovable character.

Director Yoon Seok Ho and writer Oh Soo Yeon, the masterminds behind the sensational melodramas “Winter Sonata” and “Autumn in my Heart” have teamed up once again to produce “Love Rain.” With the combination of Jang Keun Suk, YoonA, director Yoon Seok Ho, and writer Oh Soo Yeon, it doesn't come as a surprise that “Love Rain” has already secured a Japanese broadcaster.

Yomiuri News and Oricon are reporting that Jang Keun Suk's Japanese documentary, "Becoming the World's Prince! The Real 24 year old Jang Keun Suk" ("Sekai no Prince e! Jang Keun Suk ~ 24 sai no Sugao~") will air from 1:05am - 2:05am the night of Friday, January 13/early Friday, January 14 on Fuji TV in Japan (Kanto region only). The documentary contains footage shot last year between October and December.

Jang Keun Suk lets TV cameras into his home and he even gives a tour of his university campus! Footage for the documentary was shot by Japanese and Korean TV crews, so those in Korea may be seeing a similar documentary soon.

Six months after his Japanese debut, Jang Keun Suk held an event at Tokyo Dome following his arena tours in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

One of the more shocking parts of the documentary is how he continues to film even while hooked to an IV drip after finishing his event at Saitama Super Arena. Jang Keun Suk is quite popular in Japan and has even appeared in Lawson's (a convenience store) commercials and commercials promoting Korea's national drink makkoli.

Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk will visit Japan to promote his film "You Are My Pet" next week, according to his agency Tree J. Company.

An official with Tree J. told 10Asia on Tuesday that Jang, along with his co-star actress Kim Ha-neul, will be in the country from January 18 to 24 to promote "Pet" set to open in theaters on January 20.

"Jang and Kim will be visiting several cities in the country for various interviews with local media outlets and other promotional events with fans for 'Pet,'" the official explained.

She added that Jang will return to Japan for another event for "You Are My Pet" in Osaka on February 11 where the cast including Jang will take the stage to re-enact several scenes from the movie.

"You Are My Pet," director Kim Byung-gon's first feature, follows the story of Ji Eun (Kim), a successful magazine editor, that decides to allow her brother's friend Kang In-ho (Jang) stay at her house as her pet instead of dating a guy.

The film, based on the Japanese comic titled "きみはペット," opened in Korea in November last year and was sold to nine countries in Asia including Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
